Customer management lets you manage customers and related business rules. Customer lists let you search and filter customers based on the various attributes.

Customer fields, properties, and attributes

Fields and Properties Description
Customer Type Define the type of customer. Available options: Business, Individual
Customer Account Number Account number assigned to the customer.
Name Customer's name
Default Store Identify customer's default store code. All customers must have a default store code. Different customers can have different default store codes. A default store code decides under which store the order to be created for the customer.
Primary Phone Customer's primary phone number.
Alternate Phone 1 Customer's alternate phone number.
Available Credit Amount If the customer has a credit line, this field will show the available credit amount for the customer.
Balance Credit Amount Shows current customer balance.
Total Credit Line Shows total credit line for the customer.
Bill To Account Number Specify customer's Bill-to account number. Bill-to account number allows the bill-to customer to review and pay Sell-to or Ship-to customer's sales orders, and sales invoices.
Master Account Number Specify customer's Master account number. A master account number allows the Master Customer to review and pay Sell-to or Ship-to customer's sales orders, and sales invoices.
Customer Forecast Code Specify customer's forecast code. This code is being used for machine learning to produce sales forecasts.

Active Specify if the customer an active or inactive customer.
Term Customer Specify if the customer has a payment term. When a customer has a payment term, the order checkout flow will allow the customer to select the "Send Invoice" option for the payments.
Allow Store Pickup Specify if the customer is allowed to do a store pickup. Turning on the "Allow Store Pickup" option will allow customers to select store pick up as shipping method and then allow customers to select the store they intend to pick up from.
Allow COD Specify if the customer has an option to select COD (Cash on delivery / Pay On Delivery or At Pickup). This option is only available to SEMBA Insight app users.
Allow payments on account Specify if the customer is allowed to make payments without any orders or invoices.
Sales tax setup Shows if the customer's tax setup record is created with the sales tax calculation services.
Test Record Specify if the customer is a test customer. This is only being used for Accounting and ERP system integrations.
Customer Sales Tax Type Specify if the customer is a taxable or non-taxable customer. Available Options: Taxable, Government, Wholesale, and Other. Other than Taxable all other customer sales tax types are
Exemption Jurisdiction When a customer taxable but excepted at certain states, then specify those exempted state codes.
Tags Create a new tag for the customer or assign an existing tag from the list.
Addresses Create and manage customer addresses. Specify a primary address, a default billing address, and a default shipping address for the customer.


Notification Subscriptions Specify all the contacts for the customer.  Here a contact can be notified based on the various events.

  • Primary Contact: Identifies the primary contact person for the customer.
  • Order Confirmation: When an order is generated, an order confirmation email is sent to the email address when selected.
  • Invoice Posted: After a new invoice is posted to the account and if the invoice has any balance amount, an email notification is sent to contact, when selected. A copy of the invoice pdf is attached with the email.
  • Invoice Due: A invoice due reminder notification email is sent to the contact when selected.
  • Shipment Notification: After a shipment is created, a shipment notification email with tracking information is sent to the contact, when selected.
  • Sell-to Order Confirmation: This applies to the bill-to customers only. When an order is created on the sell-to customer's account, an order confirmation email is sent to the contact, if selected.
  • Sell-to Invoice Posted: This applies to the bill-to customers only. After a new invoice is posted to the sell-to customer's account, and if the invoice has any balance amount, an email notification is sent to the contact, when selected. A copy of the invoice pdf is attached with the email.
  • Suggested Order: This only applies when machine learning and forecasting are turned on. An email notification with a suggested order is sent to the contact for review and approval.
  • Statements: When a new statement is posted to the account, an email notification is sent to the contact.
Customer Specific Products Shows any custom or specific products available to the customer but not available to the public. A customer has to log into the portal to see these products.  
Associated Sell-To Customer List Only applies to the bill-to-customers. Shows sell-to customer list associated with the customer.
Associated Customer List Only applied to the Master customers. Shows sell-to and bill-to customer list associated with the customer.
